Out of the 11 gifts in the 2015 Neiman Marcus Fantasy Gift Collection, one very rare and unique present pays homage to its Kentucky roots and deep connection to the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery. The Orphan Barrel Project, a two-part ultimate gift consists of a bespoke whiskey cabinet stocked with the entire Orphan Barrel collection to-date, as well as a VIP trip to the Stitzel-Weller distillery to taste recently-discovered bourbons and participate in the hands-on guided creation of two completely unique Orphan Barrel bourbon variants. Hand-bottled with custom labels and signed by the purchaser, they will never be bottled again, for anyone else.
The bespoke whiskey cabinet was designed and built by Louisville-based craftsman Jason Cohen. Known for his woodworking prowess, Cohen has a shop based in the NuLu/East Market neighborhood. Crafting the whiskey cabinet primarily using reclaimed American oak found in the rickhouses at Stitzel-Weller, this cabinet was resurrected from the depth of the distillery just like the Orphan Barrel whiskeys it houses. The cabinet also features copper finishes from Vendome Copper & Brass Works, the leading copper still manufacturer in Kentucky.
